Hiking at North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge

North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge

The lodge is set on the edge of Cli Lake, with the peaks of the Nahanni Range directly behind and across from the property. Our guides lead day hikes up the mountains for fantastic views over Cli Lake and the Nahanni Range. Lunch breaks offer a truly inspiring perspective.

We recommend our guests travel with our guides who can offer interpretation of our mountain scenery. They can point out wildlife tracks and help spot wild sheep, woodland caribou, bears, moose, songbirds and eagles. There are often excellent opportunities for photos. Our hiking trails follow game paths, which are partially groomed in wooded areas.

We also provide tailor-made multi day hiking excursions in the Nahanni Karsts and Ram Plateau, with helicopter support. These mountain hikes can be steep however no special equipment or ropes are required. Hikers can observe the Mackenzie River, Nahanni Mountain Range, North Nahanni River and the spectacular Ram Plateau on these hikes. There is a variety of edible berries and plants along the way - high and low bush cranberries, blueberries, high and running raspberries, saskatoons, strawberries, cloud berries, goose berries and bunch berries. Depending on the time of the year there is always something to enjoy.
