Travel Tips

Hiking in the Mackenzie Mountains

Terry Parker NWTT

Please bring a bug jacket and/or a high-quality insect repellent for overland travel. Mosquitoes are an unfortunate fact of life in the north. Due to cool water on Cli Lake and the Mackenzie River, they are generally not a nuisance on the water.

Dress casually and comfortably, paying particular attention to non-slip footwear. You will be on and off boats, walking on shore and hiking in a variety of terrain. We suggest comfortable and loose long sleeved shirts and pants. The temperature will range from 40° to 85° (4.5° to 29.5° C). During the summer we have at least 20 hours of daylight. Rain is usually limited.
